Training for Queenstown Marathon
This year’s Queenstown Marathon is set to take place on Saturday 19 November 2022.
Tickets are in hot demand so if you’re considering getting involved now is the time to sign-up and get started on your training plan.
We’re told, you don’t need to be a runner to take part in the Marathon – there are several race lengths to choose from to suit all age and abilities.
However, what will help is a bit of time to practice, some good good gear and a training plan.
Step 1. Sign Up
There are four race distances to choose from:
Race 1. NZ Sotherby’s International Reality Marathon
Distance: 42.2km
Start: The Avenue, Millbrook Resort
End: Queenstown Recreation Ground
Minimum age: 18 years old
Race 2. La Roche Posay Half Marathon
Distance: 21.1km*
Start: Speargrass Flat
End: Queenstown Recreation Ground
Minimum age: 16 years old
*if you plan to walk start times differ slightly from runners.
Race 3. Havana Coffee 10km
Distance: 10km*
Start: Allan Crescent, Frankton
End: Queenstown Recreation Ground
Minimum age: 10+ years old (10 – 12yrs must be accompanied by an adult for the entire race)

Race 4. Queenstown Airport Kids Run
Distance: 2.2km* (approx.)
Start: Queenstown Gardens
End: Queenstown Recreation Ground
Minimum age: 5-12 years old (5-9yrs can be accompanied by an adult)
